Castaic Lake held at 28 percent of capacity, and water temperatures have been near 79 degrees. Fishing was good last week with bass anglers doing well using a combination of topwater and finesse baits. Buzz baits, poppers, and Zara Puppies continued to work along rocky shorelines early in the day, drop shot, Green Pumpkin Senkos, or Carolina rigged soft plastics worked well mid-day. Most of the bass have been holding in 10 to 25 feet of water near main lake points and around rocky structure. The small striper continued to bite Kastmasters, Jerkbaits, and topwater throughout the lake, and fly coring or umbrella rigs fooled them as well. Bait anglers did well using cut baits and nightcrawlers in 25 to 60 feet of water, and catfish ate those same baits.
