The forest closures will be lifted tonight at midnight. Please check the Shasta-Trinity National Forest's website for any remaining restrictions. Also keep in mind the water temps will be higher the further south you go on the river.
The air quality on some days is quite good, and very poor on others. The river is low, but cool up above Simms for sure. The Octobers are all pupating now and should begin to hatch up top in three weeks or so. In the meantime, small black flies, Sweet Peas, Zebra Midges, S&Ms are working well in the mornings. Some fish will chase sculpin patterns too. Your best chances for the dry bite comes towards evening. With caddis beginning to show in numbers at dark, dark #14 & #16 Missing Links along with Chubby Chernobyls, and yellow Stimulators in #8 & #6 for the stonefly bite.
