Nacimiento Lake fell to 11 percent of capacity, and fishing has been good for some anglers and slower for others. The shad are being chased by the spotted bass and white bass, and when anglers locate a boil, the fishing can be wide open. Topwater, jerkbaits, and spoons have been working well during the boils, and finesse baits worked best when anglers can’t seem to find boiling fish. Drop shot, Ned rigs, and darter heads have been working in 5 to 25 feet of water with bluegill and brown colors working the best. Catfish anglers reported a good bite using cut baits, chicken liver, and dip bait, and the bluegill ate any live worm.
