EAST WALKER RIVER            

The California side of the EW is closed until April 30, 2022

I haven’t heard much from the Nevada side of the EW, just 1 or 2 reports that were just ok. This time of the year with the low flows it’s best to try small midge and nymph patterns and focus on the deeper pools and runs where there will be more fish hanging out. Sometimes if there’s some overcast weather you can do well this time of the year with dries as well. It’s pretty cold in the mornings so you don’t really need to hit the water until about 10 or so after it warms up a bit. Try to be sneakier than usual, with the lower water levels the fish tend to be a bit more spooky. Generally speaking, the fishing action tends to get better towards January and February when the weather usually warms up a bit.  

     

SCEIRINE RANCH              

We haven’t had anyone on the ranch lately, when we get some anglers down there we’ll try to get a report and pass it on.         

            

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR                  

Bridgeport Reservoir is closed until April 30, 2022       

 

KIRMAN LAKE                            

Kirman is closed until April 30, 2022     

 

TWIN LAKES                     

The Twin Lakes are closed until April 30, 2022                                   

 

WEST WALKER RIVER                     

We haven’t heard any news from the West Walker lately though it is open for barbless catch and release fishing in the Winter now. If we hear anything we’ll pass it along.                     

 

VIRGINIA LAKES                         

The Virginias are closed until April 30, 2022

RANDOM INFORMATION: Well, we’re in full “Regulation Change” mode now. The East Walker, which has been open in the Winter for many years is now closed and most of the other streams in the area are now open, including Green, Virginia, Robinson below Lower Twin, Buckeye, Little Walker and West Walker. There hasn’t been much angling activity that we’ve heard of lately but there are some angling opportunities in the area. Topaz Lake is also now open all year long as well as most of the back country lakes. We don’t have any snow to speak of yet so the back country is very accessible, however, I would guess that most of the lakes back there are probably pretty frozen up by now. Interesting times we live in
