We had our yearly RB Bass Christmas party fishing weekend this year it was at Lake Camanche. Went up on Friday and hung out with all the guys at camp. Ate great food and some drinks before calling it a night. Saturday morning we all launched about the same time. And my partner Vern Westberg and I made a short run to our first spot in hopes the dense fog would burn off. Vern decided to start the day with a Huddleston and I debated between a drop shot and a jig. As I wanted something that didn’t require a lot of work (may have had a few to many drinks Friday night). Within the first few casts we had our first fish on the jig. Payed attention to where that fish came from and that was the transition from rock to dirt. Started to pay a little more attention to spots like that. And a few casts later we had our second fish on the jig and it was a big un! Fought her and was able to get her in the boat with an awesome net job and some coaching by Vern. Got her on the scale weighing in at 11.97lb! Got some pictures and got her back in the water and watched her
swim away.

Fishing slowed down for us but was able to pick up a few more fish later in the day. We had to go deeper and find some bait. Vern threw the drop shot and picked up a few fish. I threw the drop shot without much luck and decided to pick up a blade bait and vertical jig it on fish marked on the graph. That picked up a few more for us. Ended our day with a solid 21lbs for our best 5 fish. Headed back to the docks to meet up with the rest of the crew and talk about our day fishing.

Everyone caught limits ranging from 9lb to 14.5lbs. Day two we went to where we ended the day before. And couldn’t find the fish. Made a couple runs with no luck before we finally decided to stick with an area towards the end of our day. We threw spoons, arig, drop shot, and a blade and were able to grind out a 9lb limit before heading
back in. Most of the other guys were able to produce 12-13lb bags on the second day. Making it a great weekend of fishing and new memories for all of us.
