Winter steelhead has slowed down on the Siuslaw but anglers are catching fish everyday and there are still fish around to be caught. Most of the hatchery fish in the basin are headed to Whitaker Creek and the area where Whitaker Creek joins the Siuslaw provides the best opportunity to catch a hatchery winter steelhead. Anglers are reminded that Whitaker Creek is closed during the steelhead season and to target these fish near the confluence of the Siuslaw River. There is also a small hatchery release in Lake Creek (located at Green Creek) that provides opportunity to catch winter steelhead from December - March.

Trout fishing in streams will reopen May 22, 2022.
