At last check, the ice was about 10-inches thick expected to remain fishable in the coming days. Check ice thickness before heading out. Most anglers are catching rainbows on PowerBait and night crawlers.
Ice has thawed across most of the reservoir. Thin ice can be found along the shoreline in the morning. Rainbow trout are taking worms and rainbow PowerBait.
Striped bass are biting anchovies along the beaches near Hemenway. Anglers are averaging five fish a day and are reporting more bites when fishing anchovies just off the bottom in the evening. In the Overton Arm, anglers have had success with swimbaits in 30 to 50 feet of water. The black bass bite is on and off with the recent winds and low overnight temperatures. A few anglers have reportedly been catching smallmouth bass in the area near Crawdad Cove.
Crankbaits and plastics are catching smallmouth bass near Cottonwood Cove and Davis Dam. Look for bass hanging around habitat structures in well-developed coves. Striped bass are showing up south of Willow Beach, with anglers having success using trout imitators and anchovies.
Silver and green jerkbaits are tempting stripers around Kingman Wash and near drop-offs north of Boulder Beach. Anglers are having success for smallmouth bass and stripers in the Government Wash area using anchovies fished off the bottom and 6-inch swimbaits. Largemouth bass are still hard to find and will be until water temperatures begin to rise in the coming weeks.
Anglers are mostly seeing trout action, with some crappie bites. Trout are hitting on olive emergers, Rooster Tails, and rainbow PowerBait. Ice has thawed along the reservoir shorelines though anglers may need to break thin ice in the mornings.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife stocked the ponds at Floyd Lamb, Sunset, Lorenzi, and Veterans Memorial parks last week. Planters are hitting a variety of PowerBaits, small spinners, and spoons. Silver lures are working the best. With warm temperatures in recent days, anglers saw an increase in catfish activity. Anglers have been using night crawlers and stink baits for the catfish
