That is great news to San Diego's long range fleet, since the island offers good possibilities for yellowfin tuna of 50 to 100 pounds or more. Usually,, the only other location to provide tuna of the large size is Alijos Rocks, another day's cruise southward from the big island.
Some boats, like JJ Gerritsen's Apollo, specialize in Guadalupe trips during the late summer and fall months.
