HI Gang,

We departed on a 3 day bluefin trip yesterday at 1030. After getting a nice load of bait, we cleared the point and headed to the fishing grounds. Once we arrived on scene we started seeing sign of bluefin that would just not bite. We kept at it and just after midnight got on a school. It was biting. Every drop. 300 gram Daiwa SK jigs and 300 gram Mustad Rip Rollers were working best on straight tied 100#. The fish were mostly 40# to 50#'s with some around 30#'s and a few standouts that were pushing 100#'s. The best technique was fishing the sink as is the case usually when a school is sucked up under the boat and wanting to bite. A modest cast down swell on the bow or off the stern, sink your knife jig as fast as it will go, and wait for a bite on the sink. When your jig stops you're bit, put it in gear, wind down to the fish, wind through the bite, and your hooked up. It was like that every drop for an hour and a half. Daily limits in one stop. Epic. Our weather was much nicer than forecasted with 10 knots of wind or less all night with 2 to 3 foot seas. We are in the hunt again today. Wish us luck.
