EAST WALKER RIVER
The flows on the East have been going up and down quite a bit this past week, right now it’s sitting at about 39cfs. The fishing has been pretty good for some anglers and slower for others. We’ve had some anglers get skunked down there but some of the better reports were from anglers getting into 6 or 8 nice fish per day, also reporting that most of the fish were over 18”, some up to 25”. We did finally start getting a couple good reports on streamers so that’s been fun for some anglers, still not much on dries. Some patterns to try include wooly buggers, sculpzilla, san juan worm, flashback emerger, psycho prince and perdogon nymphs.
SCEIRINE RANCH
We didn’t have much traffic on the ranch this week, it’s likely fishing similar to the California side of the river though. A couple patterns I’d add to the mix down there would be a dead drift crayfish and maybe a rubberleg.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR
The fishing on the Reservoir was pretty off and on this week, some days we had reports of 8 or 10 fish per boat while other days they seemed to only be getting into 1 or 2. The same for the shore anglers, mostly just a fish or two here and there but then yesterday we had one angler bring in 2 7+ pounders and a 9+pounder! It seems like it’s just a matter of getting out there and trying different things until you find out what they want to eat, a little luck wouldn’t hurt either. The trollers have been using Rapalas, needlefish and crawlers, the bait anglers have been doing the best with power bait and pinched crawlers.
KIRMAN LAKE
We didn’t hear anything from Kirman this week, if we hear something we’ll be sure to let you know.
TWIN LAKES
The Twins were much like Bridgeport this week with some anglers doing well and others not so much. We didn’t see any of the big browns this week like over the opener but there were some good rainbows caught from boats and shore in the 2 to 6 pound range. Not every angler we have talked to this week caught fish, some did not catch anything, the anglers who did have some success were using various baits like mice tails, pinched crawlers and power bait and the lure anglers who were lucky enough to catch some fish were using Rapalas, Kastmasters and Thomas Bouyants.
WEST WALKER RIVER
It sounds like the West is pretty blown out lately with reports from travellers saying that the water is high and really muddy, we’ll pass along any information on some good fishing as soon as we have it.
VIRGINIA LAKES
It’s been very windy in the area lately and it sounds like it’s been taking a toll on the ice at the Virginias. Based on several reports we’ve had from up there we would recommend not being out on the ice and waiting to get some fishing in for another week or so when there’s some more open water available.
