The Little Truckee River has had great flows so far this spring. At 197 CFS, flows are higher than normal right now which helps this fishery a lot. The higher flows usually push more fish out of the lake and into the river because the flows are high enough for them to feel protected.
FLOWS: Between Boca and Stampede 197 CFS, Above Stampede 205 CFS
Tips for the Week
Anglers should be nymphing with an indicator to stay of the bottom of the Little Truckee River. The bottom of the Little Truckee River still has some algae and unwanted debris that can dirty up your flies. Anglers can find most fish in the deeper water. Fish can also be found in the riffles, but right now, focus on the deep pools near rocks. There is also some sporadic dry fly towards the lower part of the Little Truckee River during the warmer parts of the day.
Suggested Flies
Zebra Midges, San Juan Worms, Tungsten Jigged Stonefly Nymphs Size 14, Sweet Pea Baetis Size 18 or other small baetis patterns
