The Trask River Spring Chinook are showing up. It’s early and fishing is still a little slow, but there have been a few fish caught in the lower river (below the hatchery). There have been fish caught at the hatchery hole and Loren’s drift, and there should be some fish in tidewater although flows have been good for upstream migration. Fishing should continue to improve throughout the month.

Gear Restriction: Angling is restricted to fly fishing or bobber fishing from the marker at Loren’s Drift (RM 9) to the Cedar Cr Boat slide (RM 10.9) from May 1 – Jul 31 (See Salmon/Steelhead Bobber Fishing Rule on page 18 of the Sport Fishing Regulations).

The Trask does not have a summer steelhead release, but it is known to get a few strays back. Numbers will be low, but there is a chance of encountering summer steelhead.
