The reports we have been hearing from Crane have been pretty slow. It sounds like the docks are in now, which will help with launching. The fish we have heard of being caught have come on balanced leeches, chironomids, and bloodworms. It's going to pay to cover some water if you're out there, and if you find a fish or two stick to that spot as there are likely others. Stripping leeches, water boatmen, and damsel nymphs is also a good early season tactic on Crane and covers more water than an idle indicator. The Cascade Lakes Highway opened up on May 16th which is very exciting and will make the trek up to Crane shorter. As the weather warms a bit over the next few weeks, the fishing on Crane should improve.
