The Upper Deschutes has been fishing okay. An algae bloom in little lava lake has turned the water a bit off color. Nymphing is your best bet for targeting some fish and it helps to get your flies down deep using split shot or tungsten bead flies. Focus your efforts on the deeper pools, downed timber, and undercut banks. Dry-dropper setups are also very fun on the upper and hoppers, beetles, ants, and chubbys will all work well floating a nymph down below. Streamers are never a bad idea on the Upper for targeting some larger aggressive fish.
