The Lower Deschutes has been fishing well. Nymphing is the best method for picking fish up consistently. October caddis, frenchies, two-bits and prince nymphs are some of our favorites. Utilizing tungsten beads or adding a small split shot will work to your advantage to get your flies down nice and deep. Swinging crayfish or sculpin streams has also been producing some nice fish. Steelhead are throughout the system and if you encounter a wild fish, please keep it in the water and release it quickly. Having some caddis dries in your box will be a good idea in case you find fish rising around the evening.
