There are a ton of fish in the top section of the river from Iron Gate down through Hamburg. Salmon are all over the place spawning with the steelies right behind them. Best flies this time of year for dead-drifting nymphs are dark stonefly patterns like the Black Rubberlegs. Fish egg patterns below if you are targeting fish sitting behind redds, or red Copper Johns otherwise. Brett's Klamath Intruder in olive and burnt orange is a killer pattern if you are not swinging a Copper Beaded Assassin. As the nights become longer and the temps cooler the Klamath will see more steelhead show up.
We are coming up into prime time for those of you who like to swing flies. We have spots in our Spey Clinic on Saturday, and 3 Day Spey School in November, contact Bryan or Chris in Outfitters if you would like more info.
