Rain this week is expected to raise river levels and should improve fishing conditions. The fall Chinook run is winding down, but anglers might find some fresh fish moving. Anglers may want to switch gears and start targeting winter steelhead.

The new winter steelhead authorization and wild steelhead tag requirements do not start until Jan. 1, 2023.

The wild Chinook bag limit has been reduced this year. As part of the 2 salmon/steelhead bag limit per day, anglers can retain 1 adult wild Chinook per day and only 2 for the season.

The bag limit reduction and continued gear restrictions are in place to reduce harvest on older age wild Chinook.
