Overall fishing has improved as flows have stabilized around the 800cfs range, and the flow looks to stay in that range with no daily fluctuation.  These flows present more opportunities for the bank and wade fishermen allowing better access to the fish.  But please remember as you wade out into the river; there are some sections of the river channel that are the ONLY option for a boat or raft to pass.   All fishermen need to realize that these lower flows shrink the river and crowd us in, so please be courteous to others.

Blue-Winged-Olives have been out in abundance on some days, with a good mix of Midge hatching too.   The cloudy days have been getting the BWO’s going, and it looks like a mix of cloudy weather the rest of this week.   Bugs have been hatching between 2:oo-4:oo pm with the best reports of fishing from below Roller Coaster rapid through the upper reaches of the B section.  Midge have been prevalent though out the river corridor, with some fish keying in on them even during the thick of the BWO hatch.   If you see Blue Wings hatching on sunnier days with feeding fish and the fish won’t eat those patterns consider fishing a midge.

If you don’t see fish looking up try nymphing the drop offs and seams leading into and out of the deeper pools.   Bank and wade fishermen should watch pocket water and the channels arounds the rocks for sub surface rolling fish as they walk the bank.  Fish the depth they see fish at, start lite, and add more weight till you find the right depth.   Float fishermen will have good chances through the deeper runs and drop offs, fishing anywhere from 6 to 12 feet deep.    

Streamer fishing has still been effective, fishing early and later in the day has been most productive; and at times with our melting snow crating staining from some of the side drainages. Think lighter colors on bright days and darker colors on cloudy and shadowy days.
