Koosharem reservoir today, help with the DNR gill net survey, due to this reservoir having been drained the last couple of years I didn’t expect much.
Out of 3 nets we caught 5 fish total.
The first was a small cutthroat trout likely one that was just planted last week.
The second net held a 12 inch Brook , these likely migrated in from one of the small feeder streams. The last net contained two more smaller brook and a 15 inch Rainbow trout.
The pictures….
The complete mess of leeches and aquatic worms was the belly of just one of the brook, it’s probably not needed to say that with such a high concentration of feed in the lake it would be difficult to catch these fish, the water beetles and leech mix was the Rainbow trout.
one of the Brooks was completely stuffed with aquatic worms.
Hoping this fishery comes back on line again. With the wonderful snowpack we currently have I’m hopeful this will once again be a great fishery in 3 years.
