The Lower Deschutes has been fishing well. The tribal side of the river is now closed but there is still plenty of good water to fish on the open side of the river. Nymphing has been hot with a variety of flies including girdle bugs, eggs, october caddis, berry’s PCP, firestarter jigs and pheasant tails to name a few. Having some PMD and BWOs on you is not a bad idea. Swinging sculpin, crayfish, and leech streamers has also been picking up some nice trout. There are steelhead around and people have been catching them swinging flies and nymphing. If you catch a wild fish, please leave it in the water and release it quickly.
