The Lower Deschutes has been fishing well. The Warm Springs to Trout Creek stretch is open until the end of this month, and all year below the boundary. Nymphing has been the most productive and eggs, stoneflies, and small mayflies have been on the menu. Steelhead are present throughout the system and can be caught swinging or nymphing. Sink tips are important during winter if you are swinging. For nymphs large stoneflies, october caddis, eggs, and large prince nymphs etc will work for targeting trout as well as steelhead. If you catch a wild fish please leave it in the water and release it quickly.
