Illipah Reservoir is ice covered. Ice being measured at 3 inches. The ice is clear and solid, but anglers should use caution when exploring the ice and carry safety equipment while angling. NDOW recommends to stay off ice measuring less than 4 inches. Since the reservoir is spilling anglers are encouraged to stay away from the spillway during the early winter until ice is thick enough to be safe. Fall stocking was completed with 9,862 rainbow trout averaging 9.4 inches. Anglers should do well using nightcrawlers, PowerBait, as well as small jigs and spoons.
