The Metolius river is a great option for the winter months. Being a spring creek it stays a nice consistent temperature and this keeps the fish happy and hungry year round. Nymphing has been the most productive as of late and golden stones, girdle bugs, october caddis, two-bits, eggs, and zebra midges are all producers. If you do find fish rising they will likely be taking BWOs or midges so these are both wise to have in your box. Big streamers will be the ticket for bull trout, although they will occasionally take smaller nymphs too, so be ready when you're trout fishing. Don’t forget that the waters above Allingham bridge are closed until May 22 of next year.
