The Crooked river has been a highlight for us these past couple weeks. It's great to see it fishing so well after what we experienced just last year at this time. The flows are good at 106 CFS right now and fishing has been excellent. Lots of people in the shop seem fixated with sticking to the first couple of miles below the reservoir for fishing. With the better flows we are having this year we have found nice fish spread throughout the system, so don’t be afraid to try the river a bit further down. These spots typically have less pressure as well. Nymphing has been good with leeches, scuds, eggs, zebra midges, and two-bits. For dries BWOs and midges are smart to pack. During hatch times swinging around small soft hackles can be very fun on the crooked. Bunny busters, thin mints, and other small streamers/buggers are also fun and effective on the crooked.
