2024 season officially got under way today

Report Date:

After a few days of foul weather and cancelled trips my 2024 season officially got under way today. I was the 2nd boat for George J Uhl III, Playin' Hooky Sportfishing- Capt. George J Uhl III group trip. There was some nervousness anticipating this trip since it was my inaugural trip in the Western Basin and no recon missions beforehand. We opted to push our start time back leaving the dock around 1130 to let the lake lay down after yesterday’s blow. I wasn’t sure what to think or expect after getting a few report back of it bring a grind and there couldn’t have been more of an accurate statement. There was no rhyme or reason to the bite today and it was filled with a lot of short strikes but a wise man once said “sometimes you just gotta dig in like a Alabama tick” and it’s exactly what I did scratching and clawing for every bite and eventually called it having 21 out of 30 in the box as my group wanted to get on the road to head back to Nebraska early tomorrow morning. I got to take in my first sunset or 2024 on my way back to Wild Wings. Tomorrow is a off day then back at it on Monday. George, thanks for the trip it was much appreciated! I still have available dates in April if you’re looking to get in on the spring fishing.
