Special Eyes Charters

Report Date:

Catchup report from this Memorial Day Weekend and you could not have asked for better weather - 3 days of unbelievable fishing on Lake Erie

The annual Manthey Group, these guys have been coming to fish with me for 4 years straight now and are coming back for the 5th year next year . 9 guys and 2 boats for the past 3 days this weekend and they put the screws to our Walleye population here on Erie once again this year.

Day 1

The first day Capt. Dale Grimm ran the second boat along with First Mate/ Capt. Scott with a crew of 4, boxing there 24 walleye plus a few extra for the Capt/ Mate on clean up for a total of 29 back to the dock. They ran a program of Rattle Tots and Bandits in 20 - 15 FOW. Myself and Lyle took the other 5 guys of the group and fished the same general area as the other boat. We ran all Rattle Tots 65 to 75 back in 14 to 18 FOW along with a #1 Dipsey program of #3 @ 33 and #2 @ 26 back with Stinger Spoons from Fishing Addiction Gear. Speed was FAST @ 2.7 to 2.8mph. Fish total from day one - 65 Walleyes back to the dock

Day 2

Capt. CJ ran the 2nd boat with a crew of 4, boxing 26 and a yellow Perch. CJ split off and did his own thing yesterday out in 32FOW running Bandits 60 - 100 back at a speed of 2.6mph. Myself and Lyle took the other 5 guys and ran back yo where we fished on Day one with the same program as day 1, only difference is they wanted a slower presentation at 2.3 to 2.4mph - it took us a little longer but we pulled there 30 fish and a few of ours on clean up for 34. I am gonna blam the slower pick from one of the guys throwing back legal size walleyes (Your not gonna hear the end of that one buddy ) Day 2 walleye Total was 60 back to the dock.

Day 3 and final day

The guys switched it up on us a little bit but Capt. CJ ran the 2nd boat again today with a crew of 4 and ran back to where he left off from yesterday with the sale program pulling there's and a few of his for 26 walleyes. Lyle Behner and myself left the dock with the other 5 guys running back to where we fished the previous 2 days only to find out they were not willing to play ball with us in there today, but the Sheephead sure were willing to play with us oh lordy we're they willing to play. A quick call to CJ to see how he was doing we decided to pick up and make the long 9 mile hike to where he was fishing. Lyle pulled off the tots and switched over to Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. 40TT in front of Stinger Spoons back 35 to 50 back and I ran a side of TD09s 65 to 100 back along with a #1 Dipsey Program #3 @ 65 and #2 @ 55 with the #3 being a YO-YO. Thanks C.J. Tindle for the assist this morning - it was greatly appreciated. Our speed was all over the place though from 2.2 to 3.0 as I just could not get a complete lock on them. Making turns seemed to help quite a bit to get them to snap for us. Total walleyes back to the dock today was 60.

Water Temp 69.9° which is way above normal for this time of year

3 days 2 boats for a weekend walleye Total back to the dock was 185

Thanks guys for Fishing with Special-Eyes Sportfishing, see you all next year
