Summer Temperatures Make Fishing Difficult

Nevada Department of Wildlife

Summer temperatures are increasing seasonal vegetation growth along the shorelines and making fishing difficult. Largemouth bass have been hitting on imitation craws, plastic worms and grubs in dark colors. Green or root beer color tube baits, small jigs and nightcrawler pieces fished below a bobber are catching crappie. The bobber helps to keep one’s bait above the vegetation. Anglers have had better success early in the day and late in the afternoon once the heat subsides and shadows return to the water.
