http://www.virginialakesresort.comBAIT: Same as last week. Night crawlers big and little inflate the biggies, Pinched crawlers, Garlic Pbait, rainbow glitter powerbait, along with Mice tails orange/chartreuse head were the top menu items.
LURES: Always try 1/6oz Red/gold Buoyant, silver/blue Kastmaster, black/yellow dots Panther Martin, gold Super Duper 502, "O" gold Mepps and a few bleeding frog Buoyants. Stay on the small size for most lures, the fishing has been sensational. One cast/one fish just about every time. Lots of pressure though.
FLY AND BUBBLE: Black gnat parachute, olive elk hair caddis, Adams parachute, grey hackle yellow and Griffith's Gnat and small dark flies. But quite a few were using this method this week.
FLY RODS: Early in the week streamers were working along with soft hackles, and emergers. A couple hatches on Little V a couple times, and Olive Matuka red throat, black crystal buggers produced but no one tried midges or soft hackles . We are heading into our 3rd moon of the season, but the fishing has been great! Lakes were stocked with County program and DFW stocked last Friday.
BACKCOUNTRY: Same as last week with lots of fish caught and released in Blue and Cooney on flies and a few lures. Hatches going off everywhere, so bring some large black ants.
NOTE: If the trout bleeds don’t throw it back into the lake, it will die. If you care about the resource please be careful when releasing fish back into the water and IT ATTRACKS BEARS. More bears are NOT what we need.
