Fish Will Still Be Available

Fishing is generally best when flows are below 3,000 cfs. Flows are a bit higher than they have been recently because some more water is being released out of the reservoirs, about 2,300 cfs at the Waterloo gauge.

This year's memorable summer steelhead run is winding down, but fish will be in the river and available for several more months. Approximately 18,800 hatchery steelhead have crossed Willamette Falls so far this year and most of them are now in their home rivers. Over 3,000 of these fish have already been counted at Foster Dam.

Fishing for spring Chinook is now closed. Anglers may see spawning or spawned out salmon in the river. Please give these fish enough distance to complete their life cycle. Don't let dogs to eat or chew on salmon carcasses as these contain a toxin that can be lethal to dogs.
