Flows from recent rain/snow melt have kept the river fairly high. A good reference is the River Gage at Kerby. Plunking is likely the only method worth trying until about March 1. Please remember no wild steelhead retention allowed on the Illinois River for the 2024/2025 season. See regulations and season updates. Artificial lures and flies only.
Hatchery steelhead may be retained in certain sections.
The Rogue-South Coast Steelhead Validation is required for all winter steelhead anglers fishing in the Rogue Basin or on the south coast from Dec. 1 to April 30.
