Consistent flows are just around the corner with CFS sitting at 900 and improving temps make spring an excellent time to hit the Crooked. Blue-winged olive hatches are strong on overcast days, and fish are often willing to rise for small dries in the softer seams and back eddies. Subsurface, small midges, scuds, and BWO emergers fished under a small indicator or with a Euro rig continue to be the mainstays.
Spring is a great time to cover water and find aggressive fish. With flows stable and weeds not yet an issue, it’s easier to get good drifts throughout the day. Expect more consistent hatches and rising activity as we move further into April.
