Report Date:
http://www.theflyshop.com/streamreport.htmWater Conditions: ??Good. Flows Recent rains brought the river up slightly in the lower stretches. The river's fishability improves the further upstream one goes, with prime access from Cantara Loop down to Simms. There's been a variety of different hatches, including #12 Gray Drakes and several other species of Mayflies, and some decent caddis hatches in the evening. We have been seeing a few big stoneflies flying around, and a few fish have been tempted to rise to big stimulator patterns and eat some bigger stonefly nymphs.
Fishing Conditions & Hatches: Nymphing P.T's, Red Copper Johns, Prince Nymphs, and Golden Stonefly patterns in the slower-moving pools with lots of way is going to be the best bet this time of year.
Flies: ??Best flies lately: GB Pheasant Tail Nymphs #16-18; Micro Mayfly Olice #16-18; Red Copper John #16; Black Zebra Midge #18; Parachute Adams #14-16. The Fly Shop's Tips: ??When nymphing on the Upper Sac, always use more weight than you think you need to get the flies down to the fish. If you're not ticking bottom from time to time (yes, this means losing a few flies), you're probably not getting down to where the fish are feeding.
