This announcement describes two events, first announced during the October 2009 MLPA Initiative workshops: An introduction to the MLPA Initiative presentation for the general public and a technical assistance workshop for those developing external arrays.

What: Introduction to the Marine Life Protection Act Initiative Presentation
? Intended for those who are not familiar with the MLPA Initiative, come learn about the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) and how marine protected areas are being redesigned in California
? Ask questions about the north coast marine protected area planning process
When: Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Where: Red Lion Hotel (1929 Fourth Street, Eureka)

Who: Community groups and/or individuals developing external proposed marine protected area arrays
What: Providing Technical Assistance Workshop
? Primarily intended for those community groups and individuals developing external arrays to ask questions specific to developing their marine protected area arrays (i.e., components of an array, science guidelines, feasibility criteria)
? Receive advanced training in MarineMap, an online planning and decision support tool (http://northcoast.marinemap.org/marinemap/)
When: Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
