This week, according to Captain Temo Verboonen, the sailfish were plentiful and persistent within 5 miles of the entrance to Zihuatanejo Bay. There were good reports from the skippers that reflected 5-10 strikes within a 4-5 hour period, starting right at the 5-mile mark. Still good for incidental dorado catches and we had a fair school of yellowfin tuna swing through at about 8 miles out. Overall, the offshore fishing was good this past week and looked to be improving as the days went by. The inshore fishing continues to be very good for the jack cravelle and bonito, along with good catches of Sierra (Spanish mackerel). Roosterfish are following the schools of bait and have relocated at Saladita Point, approximately 35 miles to the north of the Bay.

IZ Climate: Another area of partly cloudy days but warm & comfortable, with temps from 72 nights to 94 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Excellent all over, with temps holding very stable at 85 degrees, both in & offshore. Very little breeze and swell and mostly calm.

Best fishing area: Starting at about 5 miles from the entrance to the Bay and working outbound from there.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged baits were hot for the sailfish but good strikes on the smaller lures, too.

Bait Supply: Excellent supply of both, rigged and live bait available.
