THE INDEPENDENT SPORTFISHING FLEET

The past week has been very difficult fishing from Zihuatanejo and according to Captain Temo Verboonen, they can see the fish jumping, finning, but just can't seem to get'em to bite. He had no explanation for the slow bite as the water temps have remained pretty decent throughout the area, albeit, the clarity has declined this past week and doesn't clean up until near the 30-mile mark. He added that there were some yellowfin tuna to be caught for the right boats in the right places but the fish were running with the porpoise and on the move. Also, a few quality dorado are still showing up in the mix of the catches. The inshore fishing has been about the same and he estimated hat about 90% of the anglers were returning without a catch for their effort.

IZ Weather: Mostly cloudy but warm days and evenings with temps from 68 nights to 87 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Mostly calm with some surface breezes and temps that ranged from 82 inshore to 83.5 offshore. Water quality/ clarity was poor to about 30 miles.

Best Fishing Area: None reported

Bait Supply: No problem with the bait supply as rigged bait & live bait was readily available.
