THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET

A big improvement for Mazatlan this past week as nearly half the returning sportfishers had landed and/or released a billfish for their fishing days. The overall catches for 27 days fished reflected 8 stripers, 3 sailfish, 2 mako shark, 7 yellowfin tuna and 18 dorado, which is by far, the best fishing week over the past 30-40 days or so and a very welcome change. With any luck at all, this will be he beginning of a change for the better that will continue for the anglers. The inshore action for 5 super panga outings reflected 58 pargo, 10 Sierra, 2 dorado, 9 cochitos, 29 mojarres, 10 burros and 35 roncachos.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny with cool nights, temps from 55 nights to 82 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Light surface winds, mostly from the north, with stable sea temps at 75-77 degrees throughout the area.
Best Fishing Area: Still, no concentration of fish but the boats are generally fishing in the area south of the Marina El Cid at about 20-28 miles distance.
Best Bait/Lure: Most of the offshore fish are being taken on the rigged trolling baits, with exception to the tuna, which were taken on feathers. Most of the inshore fish being taken on shrimp & squid.
