THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET

The billfish counts were still OK and held at the rate of 59% for the offshore cruisers. However, the dorado counts fell off substantially from last week but perhaps it was due to much fewer offshore charters? The overall combined fish counts for a total of 17 days reflected 8 stripers, 1 sailfish, 2 mako shark and 13 dorado. For the first time in a very long time, the inshore fishing fell off, but there again, only 4 trips were provided for the week. The inshore action did produce limits of Mojarres, 1 roosterfish, 1 palometa, 30 ronachos and 15 barracuda, which was still lots of action; just not as good as it had been.

Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy with intervals of clouds and sunshine and temps from 60 nights to 85 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Off color and greenish water to 10-11 miles, then bluing-up beyond. Sea temps for the inshore were at 78 degrees and rising in the offshore areas to 81 degrees.

Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits were best for the billfish and Mako sharks and even provided a couple of dorado, too.

Best fishing area: There was no specific good fishing area reported for this week.
