It was an up and down week for the Zihuatanejo area, according to
Captain Temo Verboonen. He said, "very few fisherman on the docks in
the mornings and very few boats fishing". He added, "the offshore
bite slowed up considerably and produced just a few billfish this
past week; much different from the week before and for no apparent
reason. They did see some good porpoise activity with birds but
couldn't get the tuna to bite. The inshore action did produce well
for the jack cravelle and bonito, but no roosterfish.
IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days but periods with lots of sunshine and
comfortable warm temperatures that ranged from 67 nights to 87
daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: WSW surface breezes to 12 knots but good offshore
temps that ranged to 81-82 degrees. Green water to about 15 miles
and clean after that but not blue. Water still had an off color
greenish tint to it out to about 30 miles or so, (the 1,000 fathom
curve).
Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits were best for the offshore fishing and
live bait was best for the inshore catches of jack cravelle.
Bait Supply: Plentiful for both, live and rigged baits.
