http://www.thetroutfitter.com/fshreport.htmlFishing conditions and Hatches: Fair to Good. Water temps have sent the fish headed for McGee. The big cordwood is stacking in. Now, here is a strange one . The fish in McGee are on the fry big time, but guess what, not Perch but Tui Chub. They are chasing them just under the surface along with ducks and pelicans.
Imitating them is easy but your fly is one of a thousand trargets so pretty tough hanging on under the indicator or stripping.
Midging is getting better late mornings after they stop chasing the fry if it doesn't blow like today at 10 am..
Recommended Flies:
Red/Black Optimidge in size 16 is the best overall producer in the getting green environment. Try hanging one about 3ft down if you see fish chasing fry just under the surface. Also, If you see a Calibaetis on the surface try a Jensen's Callibaetis or ditto for Damsels with an Ultimate Damsel. Best for me was Damsel half way down and midge 3ft off bottom.
