http://www.lakecuyamaca.org/lastweek.htmGreetings from Lake Cuuyamaca. We are open everyday at 6 a.m.. Shore fishing ends at 8 p.m.. If you are a gecache fan, Lake Cuyamaca has a new geocache trail that should provide fun and outdoor activity for the whole family. The trail is 1.96 miles and takes about an hour. You will need to bring your GPSand good walking shoes. Stop in at the tackle shop on the West Shore to get the flyer with the clues and coordinates. The Ranger will give you directions for the Trail Head. You can now use your canoes and kayaks on the lake. Remember, they will need to be washed down before launching into the lake.
Best Bait: Nightcrawlers and Power Bait
Best Spot: Labyrinth Cove, T Dock
Caitlyn Hatsko of Murrietta caught her first fish ever. A beautiful Rainbow Trout. Frank Lake from Lakeside caught 5 catfish, one weighing in at 15 pounds. He also got some bluegill and crappie.
Many limits of trout taken but not reported to the Rangers upstairs. The best part of the Lake nature trail starts at Chambers Park on the North Shore. Walk across the Dike and to the left of Fletcher Island, continue until you reach a road on your right. Climb the road to the top. Here you can lunch and enjoy the shade. The view is panoramic of the lake shore and the mountains. Go back down the road and cross the bridge. Go along the fence line and you will see bird and plant life that is as diverse here as anywhere in North America. Free fishing class is held every Saturday at 10AM at the
launch ramp. Decontaminationwash down is required for all the private vessels and motors before launch. Check with staff if you have questions. For more information, please call 877-581-9904
