Captain Temo Verboonen reported a substantial turn around for the fishing this past week with good striper action at about 15-20 miles from the Bay. He also reported the better sailfish action and the occasional blue marlin was also being landed in the same area and while it was good fishing, the stripers seemed to be biting best. "There is no concentration of fish and the captains are getting most of the striper and blue bites on plastic lures in the dorado and mackerel colors". There was a flurry of smaller yellowfin tuna action this week in breezing schools that provided some excellent light tackle action for the anglers, too. Temo fished 4 days aboard the "Secuestro De Amor" and landed 1 blue marlin, (200 lbs.) lost two others, 3 stripers, 2 sailfish, 16 yellowfin tuna and 4 roosterfish. Captain Chiro Barrigan, skipper aboard the "Bloody Hook", captured the biggest fish of the week, a 400 lb. blue marlin and rounded out his catches with 3 sailfish, 1 striped marlin and 15 schoolfish sized yellowfin tuna.

The inshore fishing has picked up again with some good roosterfish and jack cravelle action close to the beach and lots of bonito, rainbow runners and bigeye jacks close to the rocks. There were good clear water days and some murky water days in close to the beach but very little swell.

IZ Climate: Mostly cloudy, temps from 71 nights to 88 daytime highs and scattered thunder showers at night.

Sea Conditions: Mostly calm and excellent blue water from just a couple miles outside the bay, with temps from 85-86 degrees throughout the area.

Best Bait/Lure: Lures were best for the stripers & blue marlin and rigged baits best for the sailfish. Yellowfin tuna were anxious on the feathers. Roosters best on the live bait.

Bait Supply: Excellent bait supply for both, live bait and rigged baits..
