http://www.kenssport.comWell, there were lots of nice fish caught over the weekend! A couple of the highlights were the East Walker River and Virginia Lakes.
The East Walker started off very well Friday, tapering slightly Saturday and a little bit more Sunday. I think the only reason it slowed slightly over the weekend was because of the pressure, it was pretty busy down there. We??had good reports on lots of different flies, some of the dry/dropper rigs didn't do as well as previously, but the nymphing was great. WD-40's in olive and black, silver streaks,??BH swimming caddis, fox poopah, buckskin caddis, micro mayfly's, RS2 emergers were among the good nymphs. Had some good reports on zuddlers and zonkers over the weekend. There were also some anglers doing very well with elk hair caddis and E/C caddis??as well. The photos below are of the Wold family with some (and they caught many??more than these)??of the killer fish they caught over the weekend.??
Virginia Lakes are still hitting pretty well, it seems the anglers that are doing the best are fishing bait on Little Virginia. Some anglers reported releasing 20 or 30 fish a day. Didn't see anything real huge from there this weekend, but lots of bent rods! As the weather warms up I'd expect the fly fishing and lure fishing to get better and better.
The West Walker started producing some nice fish this weekend. They were catching most of them on bait, with a few on lures and flies. Again as the weather warms and the hoppers start coming out the fly fishing should get better and better. The shot below is of a 6.5lb Rainbow caught on the West Walker by Arnold Kubo of Costa Mesa, Ca.
We had a few good reports on fly fishing Bridgeport Lake this weekend, there were a couple guys float-tubing out in front of the marina with black and rust seal buggers that did very well. They said they landed over 20 fish that were all over 16 inches long over the weekend. Other than that it seemed the folks that did the best were bait fishing near Sandy Point in about 10 feet of water. There were a few fish caught trolling, but overall I'd say the trollers had a tough go of it.
That's about it for now, I'll get more to you in a few days!
