The week was on the slow side due to the change in air temperature which triggered a change in the bite. Evenings were dropping down into the low 40's and even dipped one night into the 30's. But that is supposed to change by early in the week. Cloud cover moved in today lifting the moratorium on the bite, and lots of limits were coming out on night crawlers, power worms and lures. Lures for the week were Red/Gold and Gold Bouyants, lip rippers, Gold/red Hot Shots, and gold Kastmaster's. Flies for the tuggers were olive wiggle tails, red throated Matukas custom tied streamers in olive and black, and mosquitoes, Adams female, Griffith's Gnats, Grey Hackle Yellow, black ants, black gnats soft hackle/orange and yellow and Grey Hackle Peacock.

Bait for the week: Crawlers (big and little), Orange and Chartreuse Power Worms, salmon eggs slowed up a bit but still worked, and grasshoppers.

Big Fish taken:
Devin Mielkie of Norco caught a 3lb 8oz Alper on a Chartreuse Power Worm, and a 4lb 4oz on the 13th
Ken White of La Habra/Lee Vining 4lb Alper on a Bouyant and 4lb 1oz on power worm

A thunderstorm hit the Sierra to close out a week of heat leaving the air clean and fresh from the rain. This past week temperatures got into the low 80's which is unseasonable for mid July, and more heat is expected next week. It's clouding up again and we are expecting more T-storms. Fishing got even better for the 2 hours of rain. Lots of small browns were bending my long rod in the evenings including some nice brookies. Lures: Red/gold, watermelon,......

Another beautiful week of weather only to be stopped by great fishing. Thunderstorms were predicted but stayed high over Hwy. 80 in the Reno area and you could see the lightning in the distance as you looked north. But I guess the system was a bit late as the clouds are building again. Big fish for the week were Rick Caplan of Santa Clarita caught a 4lb 3oz Alpers on a trout teaser out of Little Virginia. Overall......
