http://www.theflyshop.com/streamreport.htmWater Conditions: ??Good, we haven't had a bad report yet. Flows are good throughout the river, and anglers have been seeing plenty of bugs, and some nice trout. Fish are being caught both nymphing and high-sticking through the pocket water and casting dries to rising trout in the flats and pools. There are still a few salmonflies in the bushes, and more and more golden stoneflies appearing every day, so fishing with stimulators should continue to improve. PMDs, little yellow stones, caddis, and several other smaller mayflies have all been hatching in good numbers throughout the afternoons and evening.
Fishing Conditions & Hatches: ??Hatches include Green Drakes, March Browns, PMDs, and Baetis on overcast days. There have been some salmonflies fluttering about, also.
The Fly Shop's Tips: ??Felt wading boots with studds, and/or a wading staff can be a good idea for the McCloud, which is full of bowling ball shaped rocks that can be very slick. The more water you can cover, the more fish have a chance to see your fly and the better your odds at landing a few nice ones. High-stick nymph the pocket water and deeper shoots, then switch over to dry flies in the flats and whenever you see a fish rising consistently.
