http://www.lakesabrinaboatlanding.comLake Sabrina will close this season on October 24th at 1:00pm unless the weather turns to winter. Fishing season ends November 15th. The kitchen is closed and I've made the last pie of the season, and Rick has started putting boats away - good thing - as there is snow in our very near future again. A huge thak you to the Department of Fish and Game - 2000 pounds of some real nice looking fish. The math - 4000 pounds, that's 2 tons of fish in 4 days. Bishop local and Brown Bagger George Kirby was on the Lake educating his grandson Noah Martinez on the fine art of bagging a brown and wouldn't you know it Grandpa George is a pretty good teacher as Noah caught his first Brown at Lake Sabrina along with a few Rainbows as did his grandmother Dawn Kirby.
Owen Schmidt of Vista hauled in a Rainbow almost his size on orange PowerBait and Richard Hinojosa of Alhambra caught a 2-pounder on a Rapala. Fishing, this week, is just about the same as last week - awesome - except with another 2000 pounds of fish - that makes it double awesome. Fishing the inlets with NightCrawlers, Jigs, Flies and PowerBait was still a sure way to get a fast limit as was trolling with flashers and a NightCrawler, Thomas Buoyant or just a NightCrawler. Drift using PowerBait or NightCrawlers or Shore catching was getting the limits using Salmon Eggs, NightCrawler or PowerBait.
The colors around the Lake are starting to fade. The big Aspen grove on the down-side of the Dam finally changed to some very bright yellows. Rick took me on a walk Saturday late afternoon on the 'secret trail' - don't think I've ever seen such awesome sights and colors - that's why the pictures are doing the speaking cuz I wouldn't do it justice..

As you probably guessed, Mother Nature decided to bring back Winter - temps were outstanding in the low 60s for highs and the mid 40s for lows -- but with a few flurries due in on Sunday evening and continuing thru the week - 'bout time for some good Brown action (Maybe I'll ask George for some pointers). Looks like some wet or snowy weather in the forecast for the week and a bit cooler temps, lots cooler. You can check www.weather.gov and enter Aspendell, CA on the site and it will give you a fairly good hint at the weather or check in with Howard at www.MammothWeather.com
The open USFS campgrounds - The Forks, Intake II, Big Trees and BitterBrush. Remember your polarized dark glasses and sunscreen. Wash your hands after you applied sunscreen, bug juice or any other fu-fu juice. The Lake Sabrina looking forward to seeing you.
