Trout fishing was very good this past week as it should have been, with the county planting 4000 lbs. from Calaveras trout farm Nov. 29 as well as 4500 lbs. from the Chaulk Mound hatchery on Dec. 2. 500 lbs. of this plant were fish from 8 to 12 lbs. The "tail walkers" made a significant showing, and many anglers reported that they lived up to their namesake. Trollers scored with lead core to 2 to 3 colors with needle fish and rapalas being the best baits. Shore fishing also produced limits or near limits, with power bait and inflated crawlers doing the trick. Bass fishing was slow with only 17 being reported last week. Spoons and jigs taking fish in the 20 to 30 ft. depth range. The rest of the species did not show last week, except for one lone catfish. The fish count as follows, 38 anglers reported 140 trout, 17 bass and 1 cat for an outstanding of 4.16 average. Water temperature is 57.

Rate the action based over the past week:

We are receiving another 4000 lb. plant this Monday, November 29. A little more cooling of the water temperature......
