Outdoors sports enthusiasts should have a great time at this weekend's North State Sportsman Expo, being held from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday.
The Expo will feature hunting and fishing guides from all over the north state and Oregon, and exhibitors will highlight products and services like custom-made fishing rods, taxidermy, aluminum boats, wildlife art, handmade calls, fishing tackle, and lots more.
A popular feature of outdoor sports expos everywhere are the free seminars. This event will showcase several presentations of local interest, including Lincoln Gray on drifting the lower Sacramento River, Matt Itamura on blind/decoy placement, Steve Renelle on Fly Fishing the Yuba and Trinity Rivers, Dean Hendricks on coho, kokanee, and trout trolling, Gene Carter on Specklebelly goose hunting, and even Eric Gould of Artistic Wildlife on Taxidermy. See show program for exact schedule times.
A special attraction will be the "Splash Dogs". Performances will feature big air dogs and dock jumping into a large pool of water. It's been more than a decade since an exhibition of this kind has taken place in Chico, and it will also be the perfect opportunity to speak directly with top guides and experts all in one place.
