Cold weather, high winds, and scattered rain kept most anglers at home this week, but the die hard bass addicts proved that when the weather is bad there is plenty of bass to be had. You can drop shot shallow spots or throw a senko deeper to catch a keeper. Colors are morning dawn, Aarons, magic, and oxblood for the worms, but senkos are all about watermelon.
TROUT
DVL has seen only a slight trout bite. Even with the latest Lassen plant anglers just can't trick the tenacious trout. Your best bet is to fish the marina or the east dam with powerbait nightcrawlers, or mini jigs.
STRIPER
Striper is great for those fishing bait. Drifting anchovies or liver near the tower is the way to get some striper.
CATFISH
The cat bite is back! Most catches are coming from the marina cove and the third cove to the right of the launch ramp. Most cut baits, nightcrawlers, or Hog Wild will catch the cats.
PANFISH
With surface temps still low the panfish bite has yet to ignite, but in the coming weeks you should be able to get your fill of crappie and bluegill. Live worms, jigs, or a cricket will be the ticket.
