Applications for the 2007 Department of Fish and Game (DFG) Big Game Drawing must be received by 5 p.m. Monday, June 4. Each year, more than 57,000 hunters apply for the elk, antelope, bighorn sheep and premium deer hunt drawing.
"It is important California hunters are aware of this deadline to ensure that their applications are entered into the Big Game Drawing on time," said License and Revenue Branch Chief James Fong.
Applicants should be aware of the License and Revenue Branch's new location at 1740 N. Market Blvd. in Sacramento. Hunters can deliver their applications in person to that address or mail applications to DFG at P.O. Box 349021, Sacramento, CA 95834-9021.
Only one application per species can be submitted. Each application for elk, antelope or sheep tags must include a $7.50 processing fee for each person applying. Deer tag applications must be purchased in advance at a DFG office or through a license agent.
DFG tracks preference points for hunters. Hunters must enter required information and hunter identification number on their applications for this process. Applications that are invalid, incomplete or received late will be rejected and no preference points will be earned for the year.
Applications for elk, antelope and bighorn sheep are available in the annual DFG "Hunting Digest-Big Game" booklet, available at DFG and license agent offices statewide, or they can be printed from the DFG website at www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/biggame/biggamebook.html.
Drawing results will be available June 25, on the DFG Web site, www.biggame.dfg.ca.gov/biggame.
