Captain Temo Verboonen reported an unusually good bite week at just 4 miles from Ixtapa Island, with numerous sailfish jumpers and excellent early morning action. The sails were biting well from daylight to about 9am, then, for whatever reason, went to Siesta mode. Most of the boats had multiple fish opportunities through the week. The inshore action remained good for the jack cravelle and Sierra (Spanish mackerel) and were chasing bait balls throughout the inshore areas. The catching was best with the light spinning tackle and top-water artificials, especially those in the sardine colors and the red & white pencil poppers.

IZ Climate:
Warm and incredibly beautiful, sunny days and warm evenings, with an occasional passing cloud and temps that ranged from 68 nights to 89 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions:
Inshore temps from the beach to the 100 fathom curve are lingering at 72-74 degrees. A strong temp break at about 10 miles or so, rising to 83 degrees and outbound from there. Green water throughout the area, from the beach to beyond the 1000 fathom curve, without much clarity in any of the areas.

Best fishing Areas:
Just outside Ixtapa Island for the sailfish. The inshore fishing was a matter of finding the bait balls and the fish chasing them.

Best Lure/Bait:
Sailfish biting well on the rigged baits. Inshore fish best on the spinning tackle, top-water artificials and red/white pencil poppers and of course, live bait.

Bait Supply:
Remains excellent for this area with rigged baits and live baits.
